Prophets' Characteristics 21item Were the successors of the prophets from their offspring? Who was Jesus sent to? Did Jesus have a heavenly book? Have prophets been sent to improve all aspects of human life? Please explain the Shia opinion on this issue? Please explain the Shias opinion on the prophets’ mission? Can you explain the prophets’ miracles and knowledge of unseen world according to Shia beliefs? How prophets are the God’s Obedient Servants? What is the Shia view about it? Why is the station of Imamate (imāmah) higher than that of prophethood (nubuwwah)? In Surah al-Qesas verse 86 and though had not expected that the book would be sent to the except as a Mercy from thy Lord... Please elaborate since we believe Mohammad (as) knows he was a prophet even before he was given the Quran. In addition to miracles, what are the ways to understand the truth of the invitation of a claimant to prophethood? Was Prophet (pbuh) by birth a prophet? When reading the book Al Risalatil Muhammadia, The Message, Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani mentions that the Prophet (SAW) was illiterate i.e. could not read or write. A similar view is expressed by Ayatullah Murtaza Mutahari in some of his speeches that I have come across. However I fail to understand that how come someone who is going to reform the entire race of Humans and Jinn would not be familiar with this simple task? Is the concept of illiteracy limited to Holy Prophet (SAW) not being taught by any mortal human being to emphasize that all knowledge was imparted by Allah directly but in reality He did know how to read and write or does it actually mean that the Prophet (SAW) did not know how to read or write at all throughout his whole life? I referred to Biharal Anwar volume 2 concerning life of Prophet Muhammad SAW and Illalus Sharae by Sheikh Sadooq chapter 105 where a hadith of Imam Muahmmad Taqi (a.s) is quoted which mentions that the Imam AS said that the Holy Prophet (SAW) knew to read and write in 73 languages which is in contrary to what Ayatullah Sobhani has mentioned in his book. I am sure that there is a big lack of understanding on my part so can you please clarify this view point for me. If you wish to see the particular copies Bihar al Anwar or Illalus Sharae which I have referred to then they are both with me and can be seen, unfortunately they are Urdu translations of the book. I have heard that one of the conditions of being an Imam (a.s) or a Prophet (a.s) is that your Dua to Allah (swt) never gets rejected? Is this notion true and if so, please provide some Quranic references or Hadith from our Imams as. What is the difference between supernatural occurrences that are performed by those who practice yoga (a Hindu discipline to reach perfect spiritual insight) and miracles (performed by prophets)? Has it ever happened for the Prophet or Imams to get married to a woman, and then divorce her? 12
