Women’s Social Rights 4item According to the decree of Islamic jurisprudence, the housework and breastfeeding of children and their care is not obligatory for the woman. Also, it is obligatory on the husband to arrange for the maintenance of the wife. On the basis of this, she does not need to work outside her home. Therefore, neither is it obligatory for her to earn nor is she bound to do the housework. What is the duty of woman in the society? Are women allowed to drive in Islam, and if so, then why they can't in a Muslim country like Saudi Arabia? Is it right to limit women and give men freedom? Why do women not enjoy positions like prophecy and Imamate? Is the restriction for women in holding such positions a proof that Islamic culture and thought has a contemptuous attitude towards women?
