Are Muslims bound to follow the four sects?

And it is surprising that the Sunnite brothers say:" The past pious generations believed in the four sects and considered them the best sects, and followed them throughout all periods unanimously. It seems that they are not aware that the past generations and the Shiites of Mohammad's progeny (s.a.) believing in the sect of infallible leaders (Ahle Bayt) and the progeny of the messenger of God (s.a.w.) were pious and they have not deviated from it at all. They were carrying out this manner from the period of Imam Ali (a.s.) and Hadhrat Fatima (s.a.) till now. It means at that time when there was not living Ash'aari nor any one of the leaders of four sects, and nor their fathers. Third: The Muslims of the first three centuries did not believe in any one of these sects. These sects and the people of first, second and third centuries-which are considered the best centuries are never comparable- because Ash'aari was born in the year 270 A.H. and died in the year about 335 A.H.; Ahmad Ibn hanbal was born in the year 164 A.H. and died in the year 241 A.H.; Shafe'i was born in the year 150 A.H. and died in the year 204 A.H.; Malek (1) was also born in the year 95 A.H. and died in the year 179 A.H.; and Abu Hanifah was born in the year 80 A.H. and died in the year 150 A.H.. But the Shiite had been believed in the sect of the infallible leaders of Ahle Bayt (a.s.) from the beginning of Islam-because Ahle Bayt (a.s.) is more familiar with whatever is in the home-and the non Shiite people have been acting upon the opinion and manner of the scholars of prophet's companions and their first followers (Tabe'in). Therefore, which reason binds all of Muslims after passing the first three centuries to perform their duties according the above mentioned sects, not any other sect which has been following before?! And what compels them to not follow the coequals of the Divine's Book, the envoys of Prophet (s.a.w.), his treasury of knowledge, the ark of rescue and the gate of forgiveness?!! (2)


1- Ibn Khalkan, has mentioned in the book of Wafiyatul A'ayan: Malik has remained three years in the womb of his mother as a fetus. Ibn Qutaybah also has such opinion about Malik, in his Ma'aarif book, p. 170, where he counts the persons having the power of judgment, and he also mentions in the book of Ma'a'rif, p. 198 the names of a group that according his opinion their mothers were pregnant more than an ordinary period. 2- Sayyed Abdul Husain Sharafuddin Musawi, Al Muraje'aat, p. 44. ------------------------------ Ref:
